From Madhabdev College to Madhabdev University
Madhabdev University was established under the Assam Act No. XXXV of 2017 by upgrading erstwhile Madhabdev College, which was established in the year 1964 in the name of the great Vaishnavite Saint Mahapurush Sri Sri Madhabdev at his birthplace, Narayanpur.
The Chief Minister of Assam formally inaugurated the University on 23rd September, 2019. The University celebrates its Foundation Day on 14th June every year, as the first Hon'ble Vice Chancellor joined the University on 14th June, 2019.

Narayanpur: history, culture and community
Narayanpur is an important historical place on the northern bank of the river Brahmaputra and is situated in the western part of Lakhimpur District of Assam.
Apart from Mahapurush Sri Sri Madhabdev, Vaishnavite saints such as Haridev, Aniruddhadev and Badala Padma Atta are closely associated with this historic place. Narayanpur is inhabited by various castes, communities and ethnic groups.
The University is well connected by road, rail and air. It is situated about 2.3 km from NH-15, from the Narayanpur traffic control point towards Bihpuria.
